What's the secret to success in business?

It's such a simple and obvious thing that it's easy to overlook. But without it all the self help books and success seminars in the world won't get you any closer to your goals.

I've spent thousands of dollars to learn one simple truth and I'm going to share it with you for free.

Learn how to make friends. If you can make friends you can succeed in business. If you can't, you won't. Period.

Yes, it takes time and effort to make friends. It requires discipline, patience, honesty, sensitivity, and a willingness to look at things objectively (without immediately passing judgment) from another person's point of view. Often it involves personal inconvenience or discomfort, even rejection.

Each new friendship, however, brings you one step closer to success. You grow from the experience. You become a better, more loving person. Your business grows as friends refer friends.

Building a successful business is much like building a fire in the hearth. You start with an initial spark (an idea) to which you add heat (your enthusiasm), a controlled draft (your business plan) and firewood (the friends you make) at just the right rate and in the right proportions to make the fire come alive and grow into a thing of warmth and beauty for all to behold and enjoy.

Make new friends, but keep the old.
One is silver and the other's gold.

Are YOU Prepared? Ask Your Heart ...

Most people think of "preparedness" as a state of mind, a state of finances, or a state of readiness achieved through storing food and supplies for emergencies, Although all of these are important, preparedness is first and foremost a state of the heart.

We live today in an age of fear: fear of terrorism - fear of nuclear war - fear of business failure - fear of job loss and/or failed relationships - fear of another stock market crash - fear of having our privacy invaded - fear of drought, flood, climate change, environmental and natural disasters - fears for our safety and the safety of our children - and the list goes on.

You probably already know that fear is bad for the heart. It causes a rapid heartbeat which, over time, can make a weak heart fail. Even the Bible makes mention of "men's hearts failing them for fear" (Luke 21:26) in times like we see today.

Will all the knowledge, wealth, food and survival gear in the world really be of much use to someone whose heart is full of fear? I don't think so.

Maybe it's time to put first things first...to make the development of a strong, healthy heart the first priority in getting prepared for whatever the future may bring.

How much easier is it to learn what we need to learn, to work hard, make money, and acquire whatever we need in order to survive hard times (whatever the cause) when our hearts are in good shape!

If you're sitting down, take a moment right now to check your pulse. Is it slow or rapid? What does that tell you about the current state of your heart? Are you satisfied with the results?

If not, consider this: Fear weakens the heart. Faith strengthens it.

How strong is YOUR faith? Let your heart tell you. It knows...

Warmly and Positive-ly Yours

The Hidden Peril of Zucchini Prosperity

Do you like zucchini? I do, especially when it's fried in olive oil or mixed in with in other yummie veggies in one of our favorite Italian dishes.

Anyone who has successfully grown zucchini will tell you that that healthy zucchini plants are extremely prolific. Once they start producing they can easily overwhelm you with their bounty. Yes indeed; zucchini prosperity is such sweet bliss...especially if you have lots of friends with which to share it!

Did you know, though, that zucchini is susceptible to a fatal disease that can topple a seemingly healthy plant in just one day? It's called "root rot."

We all know that zucchini plants, like people, can die of dehydration (not enough water) in just a few days. Drought is a known killer - a disease of prolonged insufficiency.

Just the opposite happens with root rot, however. Due to excessive rain or overwatering by well-intentioned humans, the roots of a plant can get saturated (over-hydrated) with water to the point where they are no longer able to "breathe" properly and they die off, leaving the top of the plant without support or sustenance. On the surface it looks like sudden death: one day the plant seems fine, the next it's a goner.

"Root rot," then, is also a killer - a disease of prolonged excess.

Good thing we're talking about zucchini plants, right?

After all, people don't have "roots," do they?

Or DO they?

Hmmmmm.
